VCG’s Managed Services Program Cost-Effectively Replaces Staffing Company’s Enterprise Computer System

Replacing aging enterprise staffing software system hardware by Web-accessed Managed Services Program enables staffing company to reduce system downtime and IT costs.

CHALLENGE:

Staffing or recruiting firms’ business operations are completely dependent on the staffing software technology supporting those operations. Computers, networks and software are the backbone that sustains business success. When that technology begins to fail, what do you do? Pam Plasky, Vice President of Operations for Ryan Alternative Staffing, a six office staffing firm, faced just such a problem. “After years of continuous use supporting our business, our enterprise servers began developing errors with growing frequency. That caused downtime impacting our service delivery.”

Pam worked with her IT enterprise hardware support group and VCG’s software support team to resolve the hardware-related problems with limited success. It became apparent that the only practical solution would be to replace Ryan’s enterprise computer servers with new servers. However, if Ryan chose to buy, configure, install and load their staffing software on new servers it would be costly and time-consuming. A quicker, better and more practical solution was needed.

SOLUTION:

VCG’s Managed Services Program (MSP) gave Ryan that solution. With MSP a client’s staffing software enterprise licenses are hosted on VCG’s servers at their Tier-One collocation site. MSP’s are a proven, cost-effective means to outsource the most critical components of a business’ IT infrastructure to one vendor with the software and hardware expertise to assure operational uptime.

“I made a trip to VCG in Atlanta from our offices to determine if MSP really was a workable solution for us,” said Pam. “On Friday I talked through the program with VCG’s technical and support team and visited the collocation site to see for myself just how robust their set-up was. It was very convincing, so we decided to implement MSP as quickly as possible. We couldn’t afford to have hardware errors interrupt our business.”

VCG’s technical and support team worked over the weekend to build the MSP server and staffing software environment for Ryan. Then they loaded Ryan’s all-important data from the backups that Ryan’s onsite IT team had made. By Monday, just 48-hours after deciding to go with VCG’s MSP, key Ryan staff members were on the new system. By Tuesday, Ryan’s entire staff was on the new system and hardware errors that had interrupted their business operations and service delivery efforts were a thing of the past.

RESULT:

Since moving their business operational staffing software, Microsoft Exchange, and Web site to VCG’s Managed Services Program, Ryan has found that it benefits their business in a variety of ways.

  • Staffing software performance and efficiency are improved over their previous enterprise installation. Reports and other hardware-intensive calculations run faster.
  • Reduces Ryan’s overall IT operational costs for both hardware and software. Further, one point of contact for both hardware and software support improves communications and speeds problem resolution.
  • Enables Ryan’s management to focus their time and efforts on business development and customer service instead of internal IT issues.
